If you’re looking for a race that has been featured in Competitor Magazine in 2015 as one of the 7 must do 5k’s in the United States, then look no further than the 7th annual Bowerman Track Club 5k, set to take place July 23 at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton. This is a race known for attracting an elite field of male and female runners, including some of the Bowerman Track Club’s Elite Members. The event will also be a fun opportunity to see the Nike World Headquarters and raise money for the Achon Uganda Children’s Fund (AUCF).
For those unfamiliar with the AUCF, it is an organization started by two-time Olympian, Julius Achon in 2007, with a focus on providing improved healthcare, education and exposure to sport in Uganda communities. The Bowerman event has supported the AUCF every year since its inaugural run in 2010, and the amount raised has grown every year.
The race course this year will feature a slightly different route than the year prior to accommodate construction on the campus, but the course is still said to be fast and flat. In addition to a competitive race, the Bowerman 5k offers fun post-race festivities where participants and their families can enjoy food, music and a chance at raffle prizes. The post-race festival will also provide an opportunity to meet some of the Bowerman Track Club’s Elite and Professional athletes.
The official race start will take place at approximately 7pm. Registration is open to all ages and abilities with an entry fee of $30, which includes a Nike Dri-fit tee. So grab your friends and family, and register for what sounds like a fun filled event!
