Once you settle on the type of event, you still have to pick a distance. This race offers Sprint (1/2 mile swim, 12.5 mile bike ride, 5K run) or Olympic (1.5K swim, 40K bike ride, 10K run) for any of the three events, or a special Novice Try-It for the triathlon, which uses the Sprint distances except that the swim is 1/4 mile.
There will be awards for overall top 3 open and overall masters winners, as well as recognition for the top 3 in each age/gender group, and Clydesdale (males 220+ lbs) and Athena (females 160+ lbs) divisions. Race goodies include: “island-style commemorative tech shirt & cool finisher medal, ChampionChip Timing, awards and prizes, beer (for those 21 and older), food, and music.”
This is a USTA sanctioned event.
According to the organizer’s website, the swimming events will take place in a triangular counter-clockwise direction in the lake. The bike ride takes place on Marine Drive. The running events take place in Blue Lake Park.
Note that there is a $5 parking fee for the event itself.
