Race Preview: 2016 Super Run 5k (Lake Oswego)

The Super Run 5k is a nationwide race series in almost 30 cities across the country. The "Portland" event is actually taking place in Lake Oswego on July 16, 2016. The race will start and finish at George Rogers Park and proceed to an out-and-back along Old River Road, which follows right along the Willamette River.

There will be packet pick-up at Road Runner Sports in Tualatin the day prior from 4-8pm. Each registration comes with a cape, which are first-come, first-served, so picking up your stuff early could be a good idea if you are picky. Additional swag includes a race medal and a pretty sweet bib, if you are into those. And obviously, come decked out in your favorite superhero costumes!

While some runners may balk at supporting a nationwide race series as opposed to a local one, I can vouch for the main local charity that is being supported – Boxes of Love. I work with Embrace Oregon in my non-running life and believe this is a very worthwhile cause. Any little bit helps, but feel free to read about the race charity mission here.
