Portland Marathon Clinic run for June 18, 2016

The Portland Marathon Clinic is running 12, 14 & 16 miles from Mountain Hardwear in downtown Portland this Saturday. You can join them – anyone can! It’s free and extremely fun. It’s also a great way to get your long run in with some other awesome people.

Click here to see the course for this week’s run. Your route this weekend is a nice out and back which will run through the Park Blocks to Terwilliger, then turn into Tryon Creek Park just past the 6-mile mark. Those running 12 miles will turn around before you enter the park, those running 14 will head back after reaching the main visitor center at Tryon, and those running 16 will make it nearly to Highway 43 before they double back.

When: Saturday, June 18, 2016

What time: The run starts at 8a. Be there by 7:45a at the latest.

Where: Mountain Hardwear at 722 SW Taylor St. in Portland

Saturday’s weather looks to be cool (about 50 degrees F when you start) with scattered showers, so dress accordingly. Be sure to prepare for after your run, too, with dry clothes. If it does rain, you may want to bring along a mini-stick of BodyGlide or a tube of Vaseline to combat any mid-run chafing. Keep in mind the Portland Marathon has Vaseline on-course, so it’s a good idea to be aware of your hot spots and know how to take care of them on the move.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
