Race Preview: 2016 Pacific Crest Weekend Festival

Athletes take over the Sunriver Village June 24th – 26th for a weekend of fun with the Pacific Crest Weekend Sports Festival. Sunriver Mall is transformed into Athletes Village and there is an event for every level of athlete, including Tour de Crest bike tours, triathlons, duathlons and running events. Just South of Bend, Sunriver is a perfect location with views, restaurants and entertainment for all ages. There’s something for everyone in Sunriver and the fun doesn’t end after your event. Once you experience Pac Crest, you’ll see why it’s crazy popular- friends, families and training buddies all coming together to celebrate health and fitness. It’s a packed weekend:

FRIDAY

  • Tour de Crest Bike Tours 26 and 55 miles – 7:30am
  • Kid’s Splash Pedal-n-Dash for kids ages 12 & under – 4:00pm

SATURDAY

  • Marathon & Half Marathon – 7:00am

If one event isn’t enough for you, go for the BEAST medal and plan a double or triple. Any combination of the above events will earn you Beast status and awards will be given out Saturday and Sunday at the award ceremony. With awards, there will be close to $5,000 given out for the top 5 overall male and female finishers in the Long Course Triathlon. There will also be awards given out for the Top 3 Male and Female athletes as well as Masters in each event. All participants will receive a finisher medal and commemorative t-shirt.

Pacific Crest attracts people from all over the Pacific Northwest and it’s easy to see why this event always creates such a buzz. Mile markers and friendly volunteers help you get to the finish line and the finish line is where the real party starts. There are misters to rinse off, food to re-fuel and an opportunity to sit down and absorb some Vitamin D. People can hang out with friends and family or make new buddies as you compare course notes. There’s a reason this event usually sells out, so if you plan on participating, don’t procrastinate. If spots are available, registration will be offered at packet pick-up. Add $5 to the following prices if you register at Expo.

Long Course Triathlon/Duathlon/Aquabike $270

Olympic/UltaSprint Triathlon/Duathlon/Aquabike $125

Marathon $115

Half Marathon $85

10K $50

5K $40

Kids Splash and Dash $20

26 Mile Tour De Crest $65

55 Mile Tour De Crest $75

With samples and deals on gear, Expo is always fun for the athlete, but there’s fun for the whole family with the Pac Crest Expo- a jump-house, rock climbing station, miniature golf and bumper cars give the kids something to do too. Hit Machine will be in the Village Friday and Saturday night to dance your nerves away or celebrate your accomplishment. Pacific Crest Weekend Sports Festival is celebrating their 20th year and has some birthday-themed fun planned. This is a must-do event for Northwest athletes. It makes you feel like an Olympic-caliber athlete, instead of an Average Joe and you’re in good company all weekend as athletes flock to Central Oregon. Once you experience Pacific Crest you’ll want to make it an annual event.
