What Run Oregon is Wearing: Comfy capris from Brooks

Brooks Greenlight Running Capris SE (Currently on sale - May 2016) I'd like to share my review of the Brooks Greenlight Running Capris because of two features. First of all, the wide, high waistband. Having two kids will make you extremely appreciative of a high waistband with elastic wide enough to support your stomach instead of dividing it into two zones! Second of all, the legs have only one seam, on the inside; the side running along your IT band is seamless. You might not think this is a big deal but it's very noticeable when you put them on and just feel smooth fabric, with no seams rubbing on your quads as you scoot along. The colors aren't for those who prefer basic black - the stripey design and bright pink on the reverse are pretty bold. That's right, they're reversible. I of course chose the pink/purple stripes, with a bright pink reverse that has blue accents; they are also available in blue stripey (ranging from dark turquoise to navy) for $85. There are currently three colors on sale for $42: grey with a black waistband and neat black geo-stripe design, neon yellow with an emerald waistband and geo-stripe design, and a raspberry color with a black waistband and an abstract pattern in a dark purple color. The sale colors reverse sides are grey, neon, and raspberry, respectively.

Even though I selected the pink/purple stripes, I have nothing that matches these pants. I still wear them whenever they are clean, pairing them with blue, yellow and green shirts that no one, ever, would consider to match. I don’t even care, these pants are so silky smooth and supportive in the right spot. There is also some flattering ruching at the outside bottom, which looks pretty good especially when you wear the plain color side.

There is one pocket in the waistband, but it doesn’t zip. You can comfortably fit a large car key in there or some gel and a card, and it’s not going to fall out unless you get a little crazy in the porta-potty and flip the waistband down without holding the pocket closed.

You can find the Greenlight Running Capris, along with a variety of other styles, online at and at many local retailers.

I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
