Race Preview: 2016 Dirty Half (Bend)
It seems all too common anymore to incorporate multiple distances for a race. For instance, if there's a 5K, there if often a 10K too and so on. There are certainly tons of racese where there is only 1 distance but when it comes to half marathons they tend to get grouped with something else. In the case of the
The Dirty Half is back this year with the exact same course as 2015 and if you have never done this race, you really need to! With just over 1000 feet of elevation gain and 1000 feet of elevation loss, the course is up and down on beautiful single track trails that race through the pine forest on the southwest edge of Bend.
The race starts and ends at Ruff Wear which is just south of Summit High School. Because this race is so popular, organizers send runners off in waves based on your estimated time. SuperFit does a great job of marking the course and providing great support all along the way. All you have to do is run!
Following the race there will be beer from Deschutes Brewery, featuring their Dirty Half brew. There will also be food including Pizza Mondo and live music. This race is a staple in Bend and is well attended, making the atmosphere electric for running.
When: Saturday, June 12th. First wave goes out at 7am
