The 2016 ECEC Elkton Butterfly Run takes place on Saturday, June 18th. Runners and walkers will start at the Elkton Community Education Center, run through the town of Elkton, cross Elk Creek and run back along the Umpqua River.
Run or walk along the banks of the Umpqua River and celebrate through clouds of color, created at stations along the course by our enthusiastic volunteers. (There will be bypass lanes at each site for runners who want to skip the color embellishment.) Participants in the event are encouraged to wear eye protection.
The event is held in conjunction with the annual Blooms & Butterflies celebration. The day starts with a free 1/4 mile fun run for children ages 10 and under at 9am, followed by the 5k run and walk at 9:30. Along the route there will be checkpoints where powdered paint is thrown at participants to color their clothing, but if you’re not interested in that, you can bypass the color stations.
After the race, stay for the BBQ lunch and music. Awards will be given to the first place finishers male and female in the open and masters divisions.
