Race Preview: 2016 Happy Girls Run (Bend)

Girls just wanna have fun, right? Well, girls just wanna run too! The Happy Girls Run series, which has races in Sisters, OR and Spokane, WA is back in Bend for its 6th year with an all new course and a well organized event by Lay It Out Events that brings together women of all abilites for an amazing race! Check out their Facebook page for steady updates as the race gets closer. The half marathon and 10K courses are both a mixture of groomed trail, paved trail and road. The 5K has a mix of paved trail and road. All three courses start and end at Riverbend park. More on the courses can be found here. The beauty of the Deschutes river will be on display for every runner, but for half marathon finishers, there is an additional beauty...the finisher's medal...

Finisher’s Medals

Even though this race is at the end of May, the weather can be a little unpredictable, so plan ahead. Typical temps in Bend for this time of year are mid 30’s in the morning to upper 60’s during the day but it would not be unusual to see upper 70’s.

While the race is specifically geared for women of all ages, guys can certainly get in on the fun. For instance, yours truly will be pacing the half marathon! Event organizers are always looking for more volunteers, so check it out!

No matter what you do, grab all the gals and make your way to Bend for this fun race that truly celebrates all of you amazing women out there!

When: Saturday, May 28th. Half starts at 9am. 10K starts at 9:15. 5K starts at 9:30.

Register: Costs vary depending on distance. Register online here.
