This has to be just an awesome event! Why? Because the Glow XC takes place at 9:30 p.m. (yes, that means you can double-up your racing on Saturday!), and travels along the beautifully illuminated trails of Elijah Bristow Park, which is just a short drive from Eugene.
Glow XC features a 7K trail run, which is about 4.3 miles. Bring your friends, as teams are strongly encouraged. Why? Because it is always more fun to run with a team! Of course you may run solo. For those choosing to register as a team, pick 4 or more people, and choose to compete in the male only, female only, or coed division. The fastest 4 team members time will be used to calculated a team score, in which the fastest team for each category will receive a fantastic prize! Oh – and if you register as a team, you receive a $5 discount on your registration.
Event proceeds will be given to ‘Rural Health Apple A Day Campaign‘, which is just awesome. Here is an overview of what this organization does:
“The Oregon Office of Rural Health’s Apple A Day campaign provides grants to rural EMS volunteers to help pay for their EMS education. The support of the Apple A Day campaign is crucial to the health and well-being of communities in rural areas of Oregon. If awareness is not raised and aid is not provided for these EMS agencies, the recruitment and retention rate of volunteers and staff will continue to decrease having dire effects on individuals whose livelihood require every valuable moment of medical treatment available.”
So, besides the out-of-this world illuminated trails, which would definitely be an experience worth talking about, participants will receive a headlamp to aid them through the forest. Registration is currently $40 until May 19, when the next price increase will take place. Pre-race packet pick-up will be available Friday evening in Eugene from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., or on race day at the park from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
Get a team together to save $5, or fly solo, and have an awesome evening out in the woods!
