Race Preview: 2016 Run Girlfriend Run (10k & 5k)

Ladies, gather your female friends and get in on the 8th and final Run Girlfriend Run in Sandy. This women only 5K and 10K is a fundraiser for the Run Girlfriend Run Scholarship, providing financial assistance to female athletes in the Oregon Trail School District. This scholarship assists female athletes in both middle and high school pay participation fees, purchase team warm-ups or needed equipment like cleats or tennis racquets. To date, this event has raised approximately $14,000.

The course is described as recreational and scenic. It includes the beautiful Sandy High School campus, a couple challenging hills, and wooded nature trails. (Click to see the 10K course -runners only- or 5K course.) Please leave your pets and strollers at home for this event. And be advised that the course is not wheelchair accessible.

Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each event and ribbons will go to the top 3 age division finishers. All finishers under the age of 13 will receive a finisher’s ribbon. There will also be prize drawings available.

The event starts at Mt. Hood Athletic Club. Parking there is free and participants may use a club locker on a first come, first served basis. Just bring your own lock!

Register by April 30th to guarantee you’ll get a tech shirt and a goody bag. The goal of Run Girlfriend Run is to have 500 participants this year. Help them reach their goal and join in on the retirement year of Run Girlfriend Run.
