Some people run for beer (*cough*Matt Rasmussen*cough*Marilyn Tycer*), and races like the Rum Run are right up their alley. But what if you dream about chocolate instead of beer? Answer: check out the Chocolatathon.

This is a brand new Uberthons race taking place on Mother’s Day weekend at Cook Park in Tigard. Race distances include 5K and 10K, as well as a timed 1 mile kids’ run and an untimed kids’ 1/4 mile dash. Race participants will get a finisher’s medal (shaped like a belt buckle, that being this year’s Uberthons’ thematic design) and entry to the post-race chocolate bar. I don’t mean “chocolate bar” like a Hershey’s candy bar. No sirree, this is one of those chocolate fountains that you dip strawberries, marshmallows, rice crispy treats, and other items into to make your own chocolate-covered treat. If that’s not enough, there’s also chocolate cheesecake! Non-running friends and family can pay $5 each for their own (unearned) entry to the chocolate bar.

Cook Park used to be a default location for Uberthons races, but recently The Reserve Vineyard and Golf Course has taken over that role. For those who haven’t run an Uberthons race in Cook Park, the course is relatively fast, with only one short steep segment about halfway through the 5K. Parking is plentiful and nearby the start/finish location, and there are lots of bathrooms.
