Humans interested in the 5k will want to note these details:
When: Saturday, April 30, 2016
What time: 9:30a
Where: Meet at Seaside Heights Elementary School at 2000 Spruce Drive to be shuttled to the start (for both the 5k and the Doggy Dash)
Register: Online here for $20; high school students may register at the discounted rate of only $10
The reason the race is called the “Dash to Safety” is because there is also a safety fair. The race starts at Seaside Cove, but participants should park at Seaside Heights Elementary located at 2000 Spruce Drive to catch the race shuttle. The course offers ocean views for a full mile before turning East to head inland and to higher ground. The Safety Fair goes from 10a until 2p and is free to everyone. Some of the featured activities include a car seat clinic (make sure your child’s seat is installed properly and you know how to do it!), a “bike rodeo” for children to watch, and a child ID clinic. Fire, ambulance and water safety educators will be on hand to share their tips for staying safe, and parents can also get information on North Coast parenting resources, including what to do in case of poisoning.
This event is put on by the Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District and the City of Seaside.
