Portland Marathon Clinic Dates, Mileage and Locations for 2016 Season

Yesterday was the first of the 2016 Portland Marathon Clinic runs. These runs, which are free and open to all, are specifically structured to prepare runners for the 2016 Portland Marathon. The training dates, distances and paces are all purposefully laid out to prepare you to arrive at the start line healthy and ready for a successful finish! Following the training guidelines set out by the RRCA, PMC uses the "long, slow distance" method where your training runs are slower than your anticipated race pace. PMC does not include training plans and speed workouts with their free Saturday run clinics, but those are available for a minimal cost so that you can have a customized training plan and more support from PMC's RRCA-certified coaches. This paid element of the Clinic is only $125 and also comes with access to training videos, a training and racing guide, a PMC tech shirt with their iconic rose logo, and more. When training runs reach the longer distances, PMC provides aid stations and asks all PMC participants to volunteer one weekend out of the schedule. This is part of how PMC is able to keep the Saturday runs free for everyone! Whether there is an aid station or not, all participants should bring their own nutrition and hydration, dress appropriately for the weather, and protect themselves with sunscreen, hats and anti-chafe products.
