Small Race Preview: 2016 Strike Out Hunger 5K Run/Walk & 10K Run (Toledo)

Nestled along the Yaquina River in Lincoln County, Oregon is the tiny yet picturesque town of Toledo, Oregon. The annual 5K & 10K fun run is always an energizing and good time. Run along the beautiful bay and scenic coast line, while you help raise money to fund the mission of the local Toledo Food Pantry. Lace up your favorite running shoes, grab you friends and family and make a day of it! The mission of the Toledo Food Pantry is to provide food assistance to those in need living in the Toledo/Elk City/Sawyers Landing areas.  This organization’s primary purpose shall be to provide strategic leadership to build an economically and environmentally sustainable local food system for the Toledo and surrounding area of Lincoln County, Oregon and to assure that all residents of this region have access to high quality, locally-produced, nourishing, affordable, and culturally diverse foods.

Race Information

When: Saturday April 9th at 11:00 am at the Waterfront Park in Toledo, Or. Race day registration begins at 11:00 and the run/walk begins at 12:00. To register, click this link.

Cost: $25 which includes a post-race party that includes the following: clam chowder donated by the Chowder Bowl,  oysters by Oregon Oysters, grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and live music.

In 1995, The Food Share of Lincoln County set up a food pantry at The United Methodist Church in Toledo. 18 years later, The Toledo Food Share Pantry Became their own tax 501(c)3 exempt organization. Since it’s inception, the Toledo Food Pantry has supplied 100,500 lbs of food to the community annually.
