Race Preview: 2016 Sunriver March Mudness March 20th

The Sunriver Mudslinger has a new name, Sunriver March Mudness. It still has the same walls to scale, balance beams to cross and fallen trees to get over, only a name change.  Most importantly, there will still be plenty of mud at the Sunriver March Mudness on Sunday, March 20th at 1PM. This 1.5 mile mud run with obstacles offers a competitive wave at 1PM followed with non-competitive waves. The competitive wave only has 100 spots, is available for anyone 16 and older and offers prizes for the top three male and female finishers. Non-competitive waves begin at 1:10PM and will continue in 5 minute intervals to keep the course clear. Families are encouraged to come out and celebrate spring break with this event. Participants 8 years and younger are required to have a ‘race partner’ 12 years or older to participate. For safety reasons, dogs will not be allowed on the course.

Because this is a family friendly event, the course is appropriate for the young and old. There will be multiple mud pits to run, walk or crawl through and everyone will finish muddy. There will be walls of varying heights, tires to run through, spider webs to traverse and a whole lot of mud pits. All participants receive a souvenir dog tag, drink voucher, fire hose shower and complimentary changing tents. Register by noon on March 19th for $35 for the competitive wave (12 and up), $25 for the non-competitive wave, $15 for kids ages 4-11 and free for kids 3 and under. (no voucher or dog tags). Spectators can come cheer for free. Registration will be available race day for a non-competitive wave for $30 (adults) and $18 for kids.

There will be a costume contest, if that’s your thing. Otherwise, plan to wear clothes that won’t catch on obstacles and that you don’t mind forever altering their shade. Make sure to bring money. Event shirts will be available for purchase as well as food and drinks. Bellatazza, Sunriver Brewing Company and Hola! will be at the finish line with beverages and snacks. Each participant 21 an over will receive a beer voucher to be redeemed at the beer garden. Make sure to bring photo ID. Hosted by the Sunriver Owners Association, proceeds benefit the American Society Relay for Life of LaPine/Sunriver, the Sunriver Police Department Shop with a Cop program and the Sunriver Fire Department Stair Climb Fund.
