I participated in Spring Fling Trail Run last year and had a very enjoyable time! New this year, the event is part of the 2016 Trailrunner Trophy Series. The race is limited to 200 total participants; 150 in the half marathon, and 50 between the 5K and 10K choice. As of February 20th, the event was over 50% full, so secure your space soon!
Regardless of the distance you choose, the course is gorgeous. The trail is a mix of single track trails (some areas a bit wider than single track), and gravel roads. You’ll be surrounded by the dense forest of Alsea Falls. The half marathon will take participants along the new upper trails. Definitely expect mud and slippage – and expect tons of beautiful sights on the trail. Aid stations will be on the course featuring water and electrolyte drink, with a bit of food/gels for the half marathon participants. There are 4 aid station for the half, 3 for the 10K and 1 for the 5K. Post-race refreshments will be provided, including a BBQ.
Awards will be presented to the top 2 overall male and female finishers of the half marathon. They will receive a complimentary entry into the Mary’s Peak 50K/25K, also by Oregon Trail Runs. I’ve participated in this event, as well, and it is a challenge for sure!
