Race Preview: 2016 Mommathon 5K & 10K

Mommathon February 27, 2016

Who doesn't love a race that gives the whole family a chance to get active together? Uberthons and the running club, Mom's Run This Town, are joining forces once again to present the 2016 Mommathon 5K & 10K which will take place Saturday, February 27 at Liberty High School Stadium. The race, although named Mommathon, is open to everyone; moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, neighbors, etc. The event will also feature a kids race, the Kidathon, with distances of 1/4 to 1/2 a mile. The Kidathon is scheduled as the last event of the day at 10:30AM. Parents may purchase UberKids medals for $10 to give to their kids. Just before the 5K and 10K start, everyone will have the chance to join in on a yoga warmup. The 10K is scheduled to kick off the running events at 9AM, with the 5K following shortly after at 9:15AM. Both races will employ a wave start which should help everyone spread out on the course from the get go. A course map is TBD as a new one is being designed. The race will be chip timed by Uberthons, with results posted on the Uberthons results page shortly following the conclusion of the race.

Baby Bootcamp of Sherwood/Tualatin will be hosting a series of fitness challenge stations that you may visit after completing the race. The challenges will include:

  • Push-Ups
  • High Knees
  • Squats
  • Burpees

The fitness challenge stations will be open from 9:45AM to 10:30AM so you can stop by at your convenience to test your fitness skills. Points will be awarded to age group winners for the 5K and 10K and top 5 overall in the fitness challenges, which will aid in determining the overall fitness festival winners.

Okay, now let’s talk awards, because there’s a lot of them! All paid 5k and 10k runners receive the brand new Mommathon belt-buckle finishers medal. The top male and female finishers of the 5K and 10K will also receive a 28″ trophy, supplied from sponsor KNC Trophies. Massive 3-tier holographic trophies will be given to the overall male and female winners of the fitness festival. Dick’s Sporting Goods has also donated a $50 gift certificate to be awarded to the male and female overall winners of the 5K, 10K, and fitness festival. LA Fitness has donated 15 1-month memberships to be award to age-group winners in the 5K and 10K.

In addition to all that goodness, the following raffle prizes will also be available to win:

  • McMenamins CP Roadhouse – 3 gift cards
  • Massage Envy  – 3 gift cards good for a free massage
  • Another Mother Runner has donated an awesome runner’s gift pack

That’s a lot of loot!

So how can this race get any better? Well, 10% of the proceeds will be going to the non-profit organization, Girls on the Run, with the remaining proceeds going to Moms Run This Town – Hillsboro. I don’t know about you, but I love a race that supports great causes and other running organizations.

Cost to register is $30 for the 5K, 35$ for the 10K, and $25 for the virtual race. Kids race FREE! Registration at these prices will end 2/22, so act fast! My sons entered themselves amd me into the upcoming Mommathon (Feb 27) in Hillsboro, OR. May I pick up our bibs, etc. this Thursday with only their names (Zack, Nate, Patricia Cramer)?

Hi, Patricia! Yes, you can definitely pick up your son’s bibs with just their names. Just let them know you’re doing so at packet pick-up. At the very least they may ask for your ID.

Please Note; there is an Error in this Blog. Angel’s Fit Body Boot Camp is not involved in this years (2016) Fitness Challenge. And I think the Challenges are different too. Please send out a correction, AFBBC is getting odd inquiries.
