Race Preview: 2016 My Muddy Valentine (5k)

If all the Valentine's displays in the stores have your anxiety level rising, consider your Valentine's date planned. My Muddy Valentine 5K Mud Run will be on Valentine's Day weekend, so surprise your honey with a dirty date this year. Or, grab a group of friends and drown your "I don't have a Valentine" sorrow in mud. Either way, this is a fun way to spend your Saturday.

Run this muddy 5K as an individual or a couple/pair and plan to encounter at least 21 obstacles, lots of mud, and have some fun along the way.  Afterwards enjoy music, bonfires, and a free beer, mimosa, or cider. There are changing rooms available and you can even snag a hot shower for $5 if you’d like to go home clean. Additional drinks can be purchased after the race and you can even purchase a commemorative heart-shaped medal for $10.

I ran this race last year and enjoyed an unusually warm February day. (See last year’s recap here.) The mud was the biggest challenge at this event, with an obstacle referred to as the “Shoe Snatcher” being true to its name for many people. There were a variety of obstacles, but none of them were too intimidating or scary. Most of them were just plain fun! You can view the course map for more details on this year’s obstacles.

Terrapin Events’ My Muddy Valentine will be at Lee Farms, which has limited parking available. If you wish to park at Lee Farms, you must purchase a parking pass at registration. Otherwise, you can park at Legacy and take the free shuttle, which will run every 20 minutes.

This event is chip-timed with waves starting every 10 minutes. Each wave will have a maximum of 50 people to ensure that the course will not get too crowded. Registration will be capped at 2000, so make your Valentine’s plans soon and enjoy a fun, mud-filled day.

  1. Would love to do that (minus the beer and cider). That is my idea of romanced. Weirdo, I know.
