Race Preview: 2016 Roaring Run Half Marathon, 10K & 5K (Scio)

The 2016 Roaring Run Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K takes place at Roaring River County Park near Scio, OR, on Saturday, February 6th. Runners and walkers alike are welcome on this budget-friendly race through the beautiful countryside. All proceeds benefit the cross country team at Lebanon High School. For a glowing review, read Jessica’s race recap of the 2015 event.

All races start and end at Roaring River County Park. The half marathon course starts with a short out and back before starting a big 10 mile loop on country roads with beautiful views of mountains, pastures, and streams. The 10k and 5k are out and back courses. All events are chip-timed, and the half marathon is USATF certified.

On race day, half marathon participants start first at 9am (with an early-start option at 8:30, which eliminates you from any age group or overall finisher prizes), followed by the 10k at 9:30 and the 5k at 10am. This staggered start should make sure that there’s no congestion on the course. Music will be playing at all mile markers, and if you guess the theme of the songs correctly, you will be entered to win and iPod Shuffle.

After the race, stick around for refreshments, awards (at 11am), and a baked potato bar for all participants.
