Make a Day of It: The Three Wise Words – Running, Painting and Sipping

Run Oregon loves running - that's no surprise. But we also love the Pacific Northwest and all that it has to offer. Running is a part of us, but it does not fully define us. In our new "Make a Day of It" feature, we aim to showcase some great local non-running events and highlight where to run and how to make the most of your experience! Run Oregon's Jessica Mumme shares with you a clever and unique way to run, paint and sip (in any order) with Pink Buffalo.  As I am the only Run Oregon blogger based out of Eugene (or south of Salem!), it is with great pleasure that I am able to share unique running activities not in the Portland Metro area. Pink Buffalo Racing has created a series of new events called Pink Buffalo Paint & Sip! In Eugene, we have three stellar race companies: Pink Buffalo Racing, Eclectic Edge Racing and Level 32 Racing. As I participate in as many of these race companies' events as I can, I have started to notice a wonderful progression. Pink Buffalo Racing not only puts on unique, fun, and well-managed races (ranging from a clever 1.5k road race that traveled from Silvan Ridge Winery to the top of the ominous hill at Sweet Checks Winery, to a superb 18-mile trail race that travels along the McKenzie River Trail), but Piper, the race director,  is branching out and doing something different. And I sure think it is awesome.

Pink Buffalo Racing presents a new series of events … Paint & Sip!

After participating in one of Pink Buffalo’s races recently, I noticed a flyer indicating Pink Buffalo presents a new event:”Paint & Sip“. The Pink Buffalo Paint & Sip events are painting parties located at lovely areas, usually involving wonderful wine. Piper has 17 years experience as an artist, and has worked with charcoal, oil and acrylics on canvas, as well as pencil and pastel. Her energy for creating amazing races will shine through with her passion for teaching you how to paint. The next Paint & Sip party will take place on Wednesday, December 30 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Oregon Wine LAB, located in Eugene. For $38 (with advanced registration), you get to paint on a 16″ x 20″ canvas using Pink Buffalo’s paints, aprons, easels, and brushes. Just register yourself, or bring along your friends, and everything else to paint your canvas is included. At the urban winery and tasting lounge lovingly called Oregon Wine LAB, you will have access to purchase delightful wines, and there is a rotating food cart onsite to purchase food, as well. This would truly be a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays, and pre-ring-in the New Year with friends!

And don’t forget private parties! What a wonderful way to celebrate the completion of a big race, a birthday party, bachelorette party, or even a company party for either celebration or team building. For $40 per person, Pink Buffalo Paint & Sip will come to your location. Supplies will be provided for the 2 hour painting session, and everyone will be able to take home their finished 16″ x 20″ canvas painting. Additional charges may apply depending on the location of your private event.

Pink Buffalo’s Paint & Sip parties are on my radar, and I sure can’t wait to get registered for one myself!
