Race Preview: 2016 Resolution Run in Battle Ground, WA

The Resolution Run takes to the streets of Battle Ground, WA on January 10th, and gives runners and walkers a great way to kick off the year in style. There's a 5k and a 10k and a 1k Cub Run for kids, and because it's a Get Bold event, there are several other special features that make this race stand out from the crowd. In addition to the post-race pancakes, beer, and music, there is also a unique chance to experience an outdoor slip-n-slide, a truly "Bold" way to celebrate finishing a winter race. If that sounds excessively cold, don't worry, because after you've slipped-n-slid, you can warm up in one of two hot tubs (time travel not guaranteed).

The wet and cold start of last year’s 5k. The weather didn’t dampen the spirits of anyone!

The courses are flat and fast loops around Battle Ground, starting and finishing at the Gardner Center next to Battle Ground Cinemas. (Note: This is a different start/finish area than last year’s race.)  There will be water stations every 1.5 miles. Registration includes a tech shirt and a goody bag.

But it’s really the intangibles of this race that make it such a good time. Last year, despite a cold, steady rain, the whole event was imbued with a strong spirit of fun (and I didn’t even partake in the slipping-n-sliding).
