Make a Day of It: Run like an animal then check out ZooLights

Run Oregon loves running – that’s no surprise. But we also love the Pacific Northwest and all that it has to offer. Running is a part of us, but it does not fully define us. In our new “Make a Day of It” feature, we aim to showcase some great local non-running events and highlight where to run and how to make the most of your experience!

The next installment of this series is ZooLights!

First the running:

There are a ton of great Turkey Trots in Oregon, but one of the most popular is the ORRC Turkey Trot, which featuers running in the streets alongside the Oregon Zoo. We previewed that event here and know that a ton of you out there run this every year.

The simplest way to get a workout in before ZooLights is to take to the Marquam or Wildwood Trails within Washington Park. From there, you will have miles and miles of options for exploration and running. It could also be fun to tackle the The 4T – Trail, Tram, Trolley, Train with your kiddos as well. And considering how busy parking can be, it may be worth your while to park a little early and spend the daylight hours on the trails.
