According to race director, Molly Cooke, the Reindeer Run has made a huge impact on the community of St. Helens. Donations to the St. Helens Police Department have allowed them to start a Police Academy that helps train new officers and reserve officers for the entire county. This past spring, the academy celebrated their second class of graduates after years of not being able to train any new officers. Molly also noted that the Reindeer Run has become one of the biggest sponsors for the community Toy and Joy program serving families in need during the holidays.
The Reindeer Run offers an event for everyone! There are three distances; 5k, 10k, and a half-marathon, open to both runners and walkers on out-and-back style courses. All participants receive a long-sleeve Reindeer Run tech tee-shirt and the half-marathon finishers will be given a custom commemorative medal. To add to the festive atmosphere, participants are encouraged to dress up in costume. The winner of the costume contest will be awarded with a free entry into the 2016 race.
Chip timing will be provided by Uberthons and awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each event. Current prices for registration are good through November 30, 2015. Registration will be available on race day at an additional cost and student discounts are available on all event entries.
