Race Preview: 2015 Canyon Rumble Frozen Half (10K & 5K) – Madras

There is a description roaming around for this race which warns runners that the weather may play a factor. Elements such as rain, ice, snow, hail, mud, wind, etc. For the would be running enthusiast out there looking for a fun little half marathon to jump into this winter, the suggestion is...this might not be it. However, let me be the first to tell you that being too quick to judge might cost you a chance to run through Willow Canyon, which is phenomenal in any weather!

Every year, the weather plays a factor in this race and yet, every year the run is perfect, even when it’s 8 degrees. The race starts in town on the pavement but in less than half mile you’re on dirt. All three courses are out and backs, turning at their respective halfway points. Ultimately, the half is the best race…because the views are like this:

The race is relatively inexpensive and proceeds benefit the Madras Runners Jack Watts Memorial Scholarship which seeks to promote running in our youth and awards a scholarship to a local high school senior each year. Post race festivities include local brews and food. Pre and post race activities will occur indoors where it’s warm!

When: Saturday, December 5th starting at 10am

Register: Register here for the half ($25), the 10K ($15) or the 5K ($10)
