Race Preview: 2015 ORRC’s Autumn Leaves 50/50

As we delve into the fall running season, the can't miss Ultra of the year is Oregon Road Runner Club's Autumn Leaves 50/50. This race, which includes a 50K and a 50 miler, is an annual challenge for distance runners. Running in Champoeg Park in the fall is one of the best ways to experience the colors, sounds, and feel of this beautiful season in the Pacific Northwest. The course for this event is a 10K loop that is 80% paved trail and 20% dirt single track. 50K runners complete 5 loops, while the 50 Milers run 8. The loop course makes this ultra perfect for ultra newbies. There is no need to fear getting lost out on a 50 mile course without an aid station in sight. This course is well-marked and consists of 2 aid stations, ensuring that runners will never be farther than 2.5 miles away from one. Stations will have water, gels, energy drinks, and food.

As the races start early (7:00 A.M. or early start at 6:00 A.M.), it is recommended that you start out with a headlamp for safety as the trails are not lit. All runners must start their last lap no later than 4:00 P.M. or they will receive a DNF – no exceptions!

This year Huber Timing will be putting out live updates of each of the runner’s laps. You can have your friends and family follow you at 2015 Autumn Leaves Timing on race day.

Awards will be given out for the top 3 men, women, and masters in each race distance. All 50 mile finishers will receive the hard-earned ORRC Autumn Leaves custom belt buckle.

All runners will receive an ORRC Autumn Leaves technical running shirt as part of their registration. Autumn Leaves also covers your parking fee. But, be aware that parking at Champoeg Park is limited, so please carpool to help prevent runners from having to park a mile away from the start.
