The 5k course is an out-and-back that starts in beautiful Tualatin Community Park by the basketball court and continues on a paved path past a (fenced) dog park, across a footbridge and over to neighboring Cook Park. It’s a scenic route incorporated into most Tualatin races and holds few surprises (or nasty elevation changes!). Medals will be awarded to the first, second and third-place finishers for both men and women. There are no separate age group awards.
The VWF will be there on race morning with coffee and hot chocolate for the runners and will host a pancake breakfast (donations appreciated) after the race. This event is part of a larger celebration in the Tualatin community called the West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta, which will take place at the Tualatin Commons. This sounds like a fun event to watch while walking off your pancakes, as it involves both costumes–we all know runners LOVE costumes–and giant carved-out pumpkins getting paddled furiously across a man-made lake. Who wouldn’t love that? This would be a great run to do with your kids, since it is low-key and there are plenty of activities to explore after the race (including a pie eating contest and pumpkin bowling).
Packet Pick-up will be held at Road Runner Sports at Nyberg Shopping Center from 11am to 7pm on Friday, October 16th.
