Some days we run to get away from it all. When the average run doesn’t fill those needs, a cross country race of considerable distance might just do the trick. The Condor 25K Trail Run is slated for October 4th at the Peavy Arboretum in McDonald Forest. You know they mean business when the web site clearly states there will be 2600′ of climbing, which means this is one that it would be best to practice a conservative start.
Registration is already open, for $45 and includes a pair of socks while supplies last. T-shirts will be available to purchase on event day. Online registration closes on October 1st. A portion of the proceeds go to the immediate family of a deceased local runner that did a lot for the community and the rest goes to the OSU Research Forest Fund which keeps up on trail maintenance and makes new trails.
The gun goes off at 9 am on October 4th and it will be a great way to honor a local runner and help maintain the trails you are enjoying. Obviously not a day for full on speed, but a relaxing jaunt through the woods. This area is absolutely beautiful and the experience will make the hills worth it.
