The race starts and ends at the Kliever Memorial Armory on NE 33rd Dr in Portland. The course is a double out and back, meaning runners head out one direction to their respective turnaround, run past the start/finish to their second respective turnarounds, then head back towards the finish. Both distances are mostly flat and “fast and easy”. The 10k and half marathon start at the same time, heading south towards Columbia Blvd. After their turnarounds, participants head north towards the Columbia River and turn right onto the multipurpose path that parallels Marine Drive. The half marathon takes this path all the way to the turnaround point under the I-205 bridge, the 10k turns around near the west end of the PDX runways, then head back west towards the finish, where runners can claim their finisher’s necklace.
The post-race party is promising to be lots of fun with breakfast, a variety of drinks (beer, wine, mimosas, cider), root beer, music, awards and raffles.
The course limit for the half marathon is four hours, which translates to an 18 min/mile pace. Strollers are welcome, but dogs are not allowed, unless they are service animals. There is a kids half mile race, which starts at 7:30am. Registration is open, and a shirt is guaranteed for registrations received by September 8th.
