Race Preview: 2015 Bridge of the Goddess Half Marathon and 10k

The Bridge of the Goddess Half Marathon and 10k starts on the Bridge of Gods in Cascade Locks on Saturday, September 19th. A challenging out and back course along the Historic Columbia River Highway Trail with waterfalls, ferns and wildflowers to take in. Plenty of aid stations along the way and safe from traffic, the historic trail hugs the cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge and includes spectacular views. Plan on some hills, some stairs and a sense of adventure with this ladies only event. All finishers will receive a Bride of the Goddess technical shirt and necklace.

The run begins at 8am, but plan to arrive by 6:45am and carpool, if possible, since parking will be limited. The bridge closes at 7:15am to prepare for this unique opportunity. Add to the fun and dress up like a Goddess. The best Goddess costume will win a $100 gift card to Portland Running Company. Age group awards will be given to the top three ladies in each age division and the overall winners will receive a hand-made laurel wreath.

Stick around for the post race Toga Party. There will be food, Rogue beer and a live band waiting at Marine Park for the finishers to celebrate. Anyone who has participated in a Run with Paula event knows they keep the standard high. The courses are fun, the aid stations are well planned and no details are overlooked in the organizing. A great fall run with a gorgeous setting and a start on the Bridge of the Gods, its sure to be memorable.

Registration is limited to the first 1500, so don’t delay. Both the half marathon and 10k cost $89 through September 6th and $99 through race day.  Day of registration will be available from 6-7:45am, if space is available and ladies can register during packet pick up times on Thursday and Friday. Register in person on September 17th at Portland Running Company in Beaverton from 10am-8pm or on Friday, September 18th at the Eastside location from 10am-6pm.

The Bridge of the Goddess Half Marathon and 10k is chip timed and welcomes all levels from walkers through elites. Make it a morning with girlfriends or just take some time for yourself on the trail and embrace your inner Goddess. The views will be worth the drive, the course will be worth getting up early and the opportunity to start a run on the Bridge of the Gods will make for some fun conversation.
