Race Preview: 2015 Monkey Face Half Marathon and 4 Mile Run/Walk on August 22nd

Smith Rock State Park will host the Monkey Face Half Marathon and 4 Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, August 22^nd. The Half Marathon begins at 8AM, is completely on trails and includes 4 aid stations.  With two decent climbs and views that can only be found in Central Oregon, this course will be gorgeous. The famous Monkey Face will be visible at miles 4.25 and 10.6 and the river with surrounding rock formations will be in view the entire course. The 4 Mile Run/Walk starts at 9AM from the Rim Rock Trail next to the parking lot. The trail drops into the canyon, takes Misery Ridge Trail to Monkey Face and follows the Mesa Verde Trail and River Trail to finish back at Canyon Trail. The 4 Mile Run/Walk will include one aid station. The aid stations will offer water, Gatorade and energy gels.  There will be bathrooms at the bathroom house, near the start.

This event is capped at 400 participants. The Half Marathon costs $59 through August 21^st and will cost $65 on race day. The 4 Mile Run/Walk costs $29 through August 21^st and will cost $35 on race day. Seniors over 60 and students 17 and under receive a $5 discount. If you want a race shirt, make sure to register before July 31^st . Short sleeve technical shirts are available for an additional $12. Race day registration will be at the start/finish area from 7-8:45AM .If you prefer to mail in your registration,  download a printable form and make sure it is postmarked by August 15th. Do not send cash.

This event is chip timed by Eclectic Edge Racing and awards will be given to the top 3 male and female overall finishers for both distances. Half Marathon finishers will receive a medal and all participants can enjoy post-race refreshments provided by Pink Buffalo Racing. Registered participants will receive a parking pass for Smith Rock State Park, but parking will be limited so participants are encouraged to carpool.
