The groups are led by experienced pace group leaders and organized by marathon goal time. You might wonder why they run slower than marathon goal pace – this is because PMC adheres to the RRCA-supported “long, slow distance” training model.
This run starts out by heading east through residential neighborhoods, then primarily west past Meridian Park, Atfalati City Park, and over I-5, passing an aid station at mile 4. Around mile 5 the run heads north and wraps around a baseball field at Jurgens City Park, where a second aid station will be at mile 8. Those going 16 miles will turn around here; runners aiming for 20 will keep going for two miles before turning back. Check out the route here.
There are restrooms at Road Runner Sports; you will need to bring your own nutrition and you should also bring hydration as the four aid stations on course will likely not provide all the water and energy drink you need. It’s also important to start trying out the clothing you plan to wear and the gear you plan to carry on race day, including anti-chafing measures (Body Glide, Nip Guards, etc) and sun/rain protection (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc).
When: Saturday, August 1, 2015
