Portland Marathon Clinic Training Run for July 25, 2015

Portland Marathon Clinic routes this week offer runners choices of 16, 18, or 20 miles out at Vancouver Lake. This is the same location where the Vancouver Lake Half Marathon starts, just a little west of Vancouver. And unlike many "lake" routes, this one is FLAT. The route runs along the lake for a bit and then circumnavigates Shillapoo Wildlife Recreation Area to follow the Columbia River for a nice, long, scenic run.

One thing to keep in mind is that there is not a ton of shade on this route, so prepare with hats, sunglasses and of course, sunscreen!

Where: Vancouver Lake Park (click to see it on Google Maps)

What time: The run starts at 8a. Be there no later than 7:40 (and give yourself a little extra time if you’ve never been there.

About Kelly Barten (1150 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
