On Saturday, the transition area will open at 6:30 a.m., as will registration and packet pick-up. The transition area closes at 8:30 a.m. so participants can attend the mandatory pre-race briefing at 8:40 a.m. The point series full triathlon and duathlon begins at 9 a.m., and the sprint triathlon will start at 9:30 a.m. And – the Kids splash, pedal and dash will take place at 10:30 a.m. At 12-noon, the awards for top placing finishers and a raffle for all participants will take place. There are over $1,000 of prizes being raffled off.
For those who love to run, and aren’t into or up for the multi-sport options, there are some great events to choose from on Sunday, August 9. As in previous years the 10k was so popular, XTERRA has added a 5k to this year’s event line up. You may choose from a half marathon, 10k, or 5k trail run! WooHoo, this has me written all over it! The half marathon and 10k will begin at 8 a.m. with participants going in opposite directions. Half marathoners will go around the entire Hagg Lake, which will be beautiful, challenging and scenic. It will be tough enough for seasoned trail runners, yet gentle on the newer trail runners. The 10k is challenging! At 8:30 a.m., the 5k begins and will be a good fit for everyone. The race awards for top finishers and raffle will take place about 10:30 a.m. And, just as on Saturday, there will be a raffle for all participants that will have over $1,000 of prizes up for grabs.
The after party for the XTERRA Portland is said to be absolutely awesome. Make sure to get registered for the event(s) of your choice (think – you can do two races in two days!!!). Online registration closes August 6.
