Destination Race: 2015 Suncadia Multisport Summer Festival (July 24-26th)

The inaugural Suncadia Multisport Summer Festival is scheduled for July 24-26^th and will include a little something for everyone. Sure to be a new destination race, the Suncadia Resort includes miles of trails to hike or bike, a spa for special treatment, 36 holes of mountain golf and 2.2 million acres of beauty in the Wenatchee Washington National Park. Suncadia Resort is 80 miles outside of Seattle in Cle Elum, a quaint town surrounding the Cle Elum River. A great excuse for a quick family getaway, the multisport weekend will include events for cyclists, runners, walkers and kids. Add to the excitement, Bart Yasso will be the emcee, announcing finishers as they come in. If that isn’t enticing enough, there will be a Summer Brewfest during the festival with 15 local breweries and 30 beers on taps. For the gear junkie, there will be a 3-day expo at the resort to get your fill.

The weekend of events includes a 25 or 35 mile bike ride and Kids Duathlon on Friday, a half marathon and full marathon on Saturday and a 5k, 10k, Olympic Duathlon and Kids 1 Mile Run on Sunday.  The olympic duathletes and cyclists will receive a finisher’s medal, half zip tech pullover, goodie bag and beer and tokens for those over 21. The marathon and half marathon finishers will receive an inaugural finisher medal, long sleeve tech shirt, goodie bag, beer and tokens for the brewfest. Participants running or walking the 5k and 10k will receive a short sleeve tech shirt, goodie bag, beer and tokens for the Brewfest. Kids ages 4-12 participating in the duathlon (1k run, 3k bike 1k run) or 1 miler will receive a finisher’s medal, certificate, long sleeve shirt and goodies.

The first 20 people to book a room at the lodge for 2 nights get a FREE race entry for the duathlon, half marathon or full marathon. There are plenty of accommodations besides the lodge, including vacation rentals by owner and camping. It’s easy to find a place to stay since Energy Events has done all the research, just check out their website. Shirts are only guaranteed for people registered by July 12^th and the next price increase will be on July 20^th. Until then, the 5k and 10k cost $45, the half marathon is $75, the full marathon is $90, the olympic duathlon is $70, the kids’ races are $20, the 25 mile bike tour is $40 and the 35 mile bike tour is $45. Save money and make sure you get a shirt by registering early.
