Race Preview: 2015 Lake of the Woods 15k & 5k

The Linkville Lopers are at it again bringing you the Lake of the Woods Run, set for June 13th in the beautiful Southern Oregon Cascade Mountains.  Lake of the Woods, a large natural lake surrounded by spruce, fir, and pine growing to the waters edge was discovered by Captain Applegate in 1870 when he was camping nearby with a band of Indians. Seduced by the singing of many birds, he tried to locate them and stumbled onto the lake. Impressed by its serene beauty, he named it Lake o’ the Woods.

Today the Lake of the Woods Resort boasts, a general store, restaurant/bar, 26 lake side cabins, tent camping, RV camping, a boat dock, swimming area, and more.  Everywhere you look there are stunning views of Mt. McLoughlin and the lake, which makes it the perfect back drop for a run!  Come for the run, and stay for the views, food, and recreation that the whole family can enjoy!

Start Times: Kids Free 1/2 Mile Fun Run @ 9:00am

15K & 5K @ 9:30am

Course: The 15K will make a circuit around the lake on paved highways with rolling hills. The 15k course will have three aid stations. The 5K as well as the Kids Fun Run is an out-and-back course, also on paved roads.

Cost: 5k – $15 pre-registration by 6/10, $25 race day

15K – $25 pre-registration by 6/10, $35 race day

Packet Pick-up: Pick up race packets 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 6/12 at Asana Yoga and Sole at 1205A Klamath Avenue, downtown Klamath Falls, Oregon. The packets in-clude race number, instructions, maps and T-shirt(if purchased). Race packet pick ups will also be available on race day on location beginning @ 7:45 a.m. Saturday 6/13.
