Whether you prefer to avoid morning races, or use evening races as a perfect reason to double up, the 7:15 pm start time for this event just might be your thing. Slated for June 21 in Molalla, you can find a registration link to the ORRC Summer Sundowner and the official info on the ORRC event page. Included in this event are a 5K run and walk as well as a free kids 1/4 mile dash. The course is advertised as flat, with a ‘very gentle’ hill, which is probably the least aggressive description for a hill I have ever read.
The event is kicked off with the kids race, at 7 pm. Fifteen minutes after that is the 5K event, which is a double loop on a bark dust and blacktop trails around Clackamas Community College. The real perk are the free popsicles after the event!
Early registration is $15 for non ORRC Members, $5 less if you are a member. Day of event cost is $20. If you pre register, there are tech shirts available to order for $12. Awards will be given out 5 deep in each age category, in the form of ribbons.
This race looks like a great way to kick off the official beginning of Summer. A flat course, run for the kids, low cost and popsicles? It seems to have all the bases covered, and with ORRC running the show, it is guaranteed to be well run event. So mark your calendar for June 21st, a reason to race in the evening.
