2015 Foot Traffic Flat adding new “Farm-Fest” 5k and 8k courses at 2015 race

The Flat Half is about to get cooler – figuratively speaking, that is – Run Oregon has no control over the temperature on the Fourth of July.

Here’s why:

The 5k course, previously run on roads, is moving to a softer surface. It’s not trail, exactly – it’s the unpaved roads that go around the farm’s property. So that also means you’ll have pastoral views to enjoy while you sweat it out.

Brand-new this year is an 8k, also on farm roads. Both the Farm-Fest 5k and 8k courses are loops, rather than out-and-back, with some XC-ish terrain (small ditches and hay bales and the like).

There will be finisher medals handed out to finishers of both the 5k and 8k distances, custom-designed for each race.

A farm road on Sauvie Island hints at the beautiful views 5k and 8k participants will see on the Fourth of July at the Flat.
