Shoe Review: Initial Thoughts on the Hoka One One Women’s Challenger ATR

Hoka One One, Women’s Challenger ATR in the Astral Aura / Flame color.

I’m super excited to have the opportunity to introduce you to a “Best of Competitor 2015” shoe, the Hoka One One Women’s Challenger ATRThe Challenger ATR received the prestigious competitor.com 2015 Trail Shoe of the Year award. And, one of my (very few) running idols, Sage Canady, is a Hoka One One sponsored athlete. To say the least, I am beyond excited to give this pair of running shoes a healthy dose of wear and tear, both on the trails, and on the roads. And purple is my favorite color, a nice treat to say the least.

If you are familiar with the Hoka One One Clifton shoes (which is a multiple-awarding winning shoe), the Challenger ATR follows a similar platform. The Clifton is light-weight and smooth riding – so Hoka One One added these fantastic characteristics into the Challenge ATR, but also added a more aggressive outsole and additional support in the upper. This allows the Challenger ATR to do exactly what I want it to do – be a great shoe both on the trail, and one the road. I run a lot of hybrid trail runs, where for a portion of the time we are on single-track, and another chunk is one paved roads. This shoe was designed for me!

A quick snap-shot from Hoka One One’s site on the Women’s Challenger ATR (p.s. – this shoe is also available for men!):

After I give these shoes a good work-out, I’ll be back to post a lot more thoughts and information on the Hoka One One Challenger ATR! I’m so stoked to put these shoes to the test!
