Put down that snack cake and get your super fast computer all charged up, because Mattew Inmann (better known as “The Oatmeal”) announced that registration is opening up next week for the Beat The Blerch 10K, Half and Full marathon. Don’t miss out on this, because last year the inaugural event sold out in 20 minutes. I was lucky enough to squeak in and you can read my and Michael’s recap of the race here.
In addition to the Carnation, Wa location, there will be a race held in Morristown, NJ and Sacramento, CA. If those locations don’t work out for you, or they simple sell out much too quickly, a virtual kit is available as well.
- Carnation, Washington:
Registration: Opens April 13th at 9am (PST)
Race: September 12th and 13th
Cost: ??? As of this writing, a cost has not yet been announced.
- Morristown, New Jersey:
Registration: April 15th at 9am PST
Race: September 26th and 27th
Cost: ??? I hope it isn’t too much, but I’m sure it will sell out no matter what!
- Sacramento, California:
Registration: Opens April 17th at 9am PST
Race: November 14th, 2015
Cost: ??? Unknown price, but the memories will be priceless.
- Virtual Race Kit:
Registration: Opens April 13th at 11am PST
Race: Run the distance of your choice whenever you want to, where ever you want. It’s all on the honor system.
Cost: ??? Not too sure yet, but swag for this option includes Race shirt, finisher’s medal, race bib, stickers, Blerch sweatband, fridge magnet, Blerch stress ball and “other delicious little Blerchy surprises.”

The website promises that:
- Matthew Inman, AKA The Oatmeal, will be running and attending each race
- Every participant gets a “I Beat The Blerch in 2015” tech shirt and medal.
There will be large quantities of cupcakes at every aid station, in addition to Nutella and magical grape beverages- Race photos are FREE
- Ridiculously awesome goodie bag stuffed with Blerch surprises
- A portion of the proceeds go to charity
- There will be actual Blerchs in fat-suits chasing you throughout the race.
I had so much fun at the event last year and hope the stars aligns again for me to go this year. Heck, if I can’t get my computer to race fast enough against the other registrations, maybe you’ll see me there in a fat suit encouraging the runners to “slow down Captain Speedypants!! Looks like you could use a nap.” One way or another, I really hope to be participating again.

Create an account in advance for Eventbrite and on the morning of registration, make sure you remember your login information.
