Level 32 Racing is back in Eugene for the Bring In Spring 5k race on March 19, 2015. Double check your calendars, that is a Thursday but the race is not until 6 pm. Perfect for shaking out the kinks after a day at work. Online registration is open and costs only $20!
The race begins and ends at Sladden Park, and is advertised as flat and fast. With the majority of it being on trails bordering the Willamette, the views are probably going to be a bit better than the average city dash. From the course map, it seems that you pass through three different parks in the area while going out and then backtracking on the trail. (Editor’s note: If you have ran the EWEB Run to Stay Warm, you are probably familiar with this area)
Registration fee is $20, but youth (17 and younger) and seniors (60+) pay $5 less. Day of race registration is an additional $5, but if you register before the 9th you can order an event tech shirt for $12. Considering the skyrocketing price of races these days, that is a pretty good deal!
The post race party is going to be held at Oakshire Brewing Co, perfect for those running beer aficionados. There will be awards for the overall winners as well as the top 3 in each five year age group. Random prizes will be drawn as well for all participants.
This race seems to have it all, for a tune up event to gauge fitness before the season really starts. A flat course, cheap entry, and a great post race celebration. There are definitely worse ways to spend a Thursday evening. March 19th will be a good night in Eugene to toe the line.
