Coach Jim’s free marathon training for Saturday, February 21, 2015

Coach Jim's group at Lululemon Bridgeport.

If the weather from this past weekend holds out, your spring marathon or half marathon training could be a literal run in the sun! Of course, this sounds wonderful - but it also means you'll need to make considerations for heat and sun. Which means, of course, hydration and nutrition plans ... and sunscreen! This week, Coach Jim's group will run two legs making a total distance of just under 16 miles. First, they'll complete a run of six miles, and then head back out for 9.7 miles. You can view the two routes here: Note there is only one bathroom at Lululemon's Bridgeport Village location, so go early and wait out your spot in line.

The first leg of your run is an out-and-back touring the three miles between Bridgeport Village and Highway 99 along the wide, flat sidewalk along Durham Road in Tigard. The route should be nice and quiet, as it runs through small business parks along SW Boones Ferry and then past the high school and residential neighborhoods on Durham.

The second leg of the run is a lollipop, starting out south towards Tualatin and touring both sides of I-5 in a giant loop through primarily residential areas.

Where: Lululemon Bridgeport Village at 7381B Bridgeport Road in Tigard

What time: The run starts at 8a, be there by 7:45 at the latest

Distance: 16 miles (just about) – split up in a 6-mile run and 9.7-mile run

You can RSVP and meet other runners through Coach Jim’s facebook page, too.

About Kelly Barten (1152 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
