Race Preview: 2014 Keizer Jingle Dash

One of the best holiday runs in the Willamette Valley flies under the radar a little bit here in Keizer. The Keizer Jingle Dash 5k is coming up again on Saturday, December 20. The nighttime race brought almost 250 runners out last year and the weather, while cold, remained dry and contributed nicely to the holiday feel of the season.

The race course is a curving route through McNary Golf Club cart paths and amongst the holiday lights in the McNary Estates neighborhood. While the roads are not closed, traffic is sure to be near non-existent. There will be cones and volunteers available for directions where trouble spots may occur. Pre- and post-race warm-up will take place inside the Courthouse Athletic Club and runners are encouraged to festively brighten themselves up for the event.

After the run, participants will receive medals, as well as cider and chili to reheat themselves up. After the awards ceremony, consider hopping on the Christmas Trolley and shuffle over to “Keizer’s Miracle of Lights Display” through the nearby Gubser Neighborhood. Or head to downtown Salem or up to the Woodburn Outlet Mall for some last minute holiday shopping!

Whatever you decide to do, make sure you come down to this fun holiday event. Check out my review from last year!
