Race Preview: 2014 Run’ucopia at Riverfront Park in Salem

The 4th Annual Salem Run’ucopia is once again hitting the Salem Riverfront Park on Thanksgiving morning.

All distances (5k, 10k, and 15k) start and end at Riverfront Park and loop over the bridge into West Salem’s Wallace Marine Park before heading back to the start. The 10k and 15k will feature multiple loops of this same path. This is a family-friendly event so strollers are welcome.

As is the same in year’s past, this holiday event is proud to be a minimalist and green event and encourage recycling. E.S.C.A.P.E Child Abuse Prevention will be handing out hot chocolate for those with travel mugs and donations are accepted.

New this year is a partnership with Outward Church and their annual Thanksgiving Meal Program.  Each year they deliver a full meal to many financially challenged families in the Salem community. In 2013 they cooked and delivered over 120 meals! Many of them were at least partially sponsored by generous Run’ucopia runners.  Runners can opt to sponsor a family’s full meal for $35, a turkey for $20, or just the sides for $10.  The on-line registration form lets you donate at any level.

That is the true spirit of Thanksgiving.
