This race is still quite a ways away, but we wanted to highlight it, as they have been generous and are giving away an entry as part of our 6000 like giveaway extravaganza! Make sure you sign up for their giveaway at our webpage!
On January 4th, Get Bold Events is putting on their 2015 Resolution Run to benefit the Clark County Fire & Rescue Fire Cadet Program Booster Club. Starting at Battle Ground Village in Battle Ground, Washington the Resolution Run includes a 10k and a 5k option for runners and walkers in addition to a 1k Club Run for the little ones.
The course for 5k and the 10k is fast and flat. They start at Battle Ground Village, travel south to Eaton Blvd then turn west and run along Eaton Blvd towards SR 503. The 10k route travels to SR503 and south along the paved pathway before turning around and heading back towards Battle Ground Village. The 5k runners and walkers turn north on Parkway and loop through the town before they head back to Battle Ground Village. The course is well supported with water stations provided every 1 ½ miles.
For those brave individuals who want to strip down to their bathing suit and take a run down a very cold slip-n-slide, the Polar Bear Slide is just for you. After you take this challenge you can warm up for free in hot tubs that are on site for you to use. If you’re feeling a little extra brave, after you warm up in the hot tub you’re welcome to conquer the slip and slide again.
Registration before December 1st is only $37 for both distances, and after December 1st its $42. There is day of race registration available for $45. The 1k Cub Run is priced at $15 if you register before the race and $20 if you register the morning of the race. Included in your registration is a tech t-shirt, free bag check, a goodie bag, access to the post-party with a free pancake breakfast and music, and beer provided by Northwood Public House & Brewery. Also, new this year are awesome medals for all of the 5k and 10k finishers!

The 10k race begins at 10am, with the 5k runners starting shortly after, at 10:05am. At 10:45 the 1k race begins followed by the polar bear slide at 11:00 am. Be sure to stick around and watch the polar bear slide even if you choose not to participate. It’s quite a sight to see!
This is my third year participating in this race and I plan to make this a yearly tradition. I always look for a race to start out my year, but prefer one that isn’t on the morning of January 1st. I can’t think of a better way to start off new year’s resolution time then getting healthy and participating in a fun local race that benefits a good cause. This course is great for the speedy looking to PR, or the people just starting out and are looking for a flat course. The pancakes and beer afterwards are fantastic and always seem to hit the spot!
