Race Preview: Down and Dirty Half/10k (Bend, OR)

Down and Dirty logo

If getting dirty on a trail race sounds like fun to you, check out the Down and Dirty Half or 10k in Bend, OR. Aside from the parking lot of the Seventh Mountain Resort, which serves as the start/finish area, the race is entirely run on dirt roads and single track trails.

Both distances basically go uphill on dirt roads for the first half, then generally downhill on single-track for the second half “with a surprise along the way.” The half marathon has three aid stations (roughly at miles 3, 7 and 10) with water and electrolyte drinks. The 10k passes two of these aid stations (at miles 3 and 4). Carry your own fuel, but note that you will be disqualified if you drop trash on the trail.

Post-race festivities will include food, music and Deschutes beer on the lawn of the 7th Mtn Resort or in a heated fest tent. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers as well as the top male and female masters.
