Race Preview: 2014 Condor 25k Trail Run

Coming Sunday, October 5th, to the McDonald Forest in Oregon is the Condor 25k Trail Run. The Condor 25k Trail Run is put on in honor of Dave “Condor” Bateham, an ultra-marathon runner who passed away. The proceeds of the race will be donated to the Oregon State University Research Forest Fund for trail maintenance and construction of new trails.

The 25k Trail Run looks like quite the challenge. It starts and ends at the Forestry Cabin at Peavy Arboretum in the McDonald Forest in Corvallis Oregon. If you’ve participated in the MacDonald Forest 15k or 50k part of the course will be familiar to you, but there will be sections you haven’t seen before. The course is a mix of single track trails and logging roads and takes runners up for a total vertical climb of approximately 2600 feet. Luckily, there is an equal amount of decent that will follow. There are more detail course maps and elevation charts here. There will be a total of 3 aids stations located through the course. The aid stations will be located at miles 6.3, 9.5 and 13.3.

 

The cost to register for the Condor 25k is fairly in-expensive, going at $35 (before August 15th) and $45 after. Included in the registration is a pair of socks. There will also be a long sleeve technical shirt for sale at the time of registration.
