This year the Multnomah Falls Trail Run takes place on September 28th, 2014. The race start at the Wahkeena Falls Trailhead and takes runners throughout the area on the Wahkeena Falls Trail and the Larch Mt. Trail to see the five most popular waterfalls in the Northwest. I’ve done this hike before and I know that this race will be very challenging with substantial elevation gain and loss. The terrain varies from technical rock, to sod, to pavement.
It is encouraged that people dress up as their favorite superhero. A fun and unique aspect of this race is that they have a superhero contest. A special prize is given to the first participant to finish the race dressed as a superhero. There will also be awards given to the best costume after the race. I’m not sure it gets much better than running by five gorgeous waterfalls in a superhero costume with your cape blowing in the wind behind you.
The race is split into two different time corrals; the first being for the walkers at 8am, and second being the runners at 9am. Registration is $30 if you sign up before race day, and $45 if you sign up the morning of the race (unless it sells out). Included in your registration is a long-sleeve technical race shirt.
Unfortunately, I have another commitment on this day otherwise I would be there trying to win the superhero prize. This race looks beautiful and challenging and will be on my list for next year. If you make it to this race please let me know how it goes and hopefully you can snap a photo mid-race of all those gorgeous waterfalls you will see.
