Two more runs, including this weekend, remain in the 2014 Portland Marathon Clinic schedule. You have (hopefully) put in the training for your body, now it is time to really focus on your mental game.
Your volunteer pace group leaders are experienced marathoners, and they care about other runners – including you. So feel free to talk with them about your goals for the race, things that worry you, and ask them any questions that have been lingering in your mind for a while. Even questions about bodily functions.
You’ll also want to plan ahead with laundry. Wearing your race-day clothes on this long run may be your last chance to really test them for battle, as next week’s run is only 8 miles. Chilly mornings are great for testing out gear that you might need on race day – including gloves, a beanie or jacket. You can always stash them away after a few miles – a likely scenario for October 5th, anyway.
And remember: sunscreen, hydration, nutrition.
Here’s the rest of the schedule:
All runs are on Saturdays and start promptly at 8a, so be there by 7:45 at the very latest for instructions and to use the restroom before you start. Click on the location for a Google map showing you where to go. For directions, click on “Get Directions” and enter your starting address.
