Race Preview: The Great Columbia Crossing

 The Great Columbia Crossing 10K, now in its 33rd year,  will be held on October 12, 2014.  This event starts in Dismal Nitch, Washington and ends in Astoria, Oregon. Runners and walkers will enjoy scenic views of the Columbia River as they cross the Astoria Megler Bridge, the longest truss bridge in North America.

Participants will load shuttle buses  at The Port of Astoria or The Port of Chinook which will take them to the starting area in Washington. During the race, bridge traffic will limited to one lane allowing runners and walkers to cross the bridge safely. The lane closure will be for 2 hours only and those that are unable to finish in the allotted time will be picked up by a sweeper bus.

Registration is limited to 3,500 participants and has been known to fill before race day.  As of September 9th, there were just 1,590 spots left – so register soon to enjoy this unique opportunity to run across the Columbia River!
